Be part of a company where your work supports a mission that makes a difference—apply today!Overview: Under the support and supervision of a mentor, supervisor, or trainer, this position is responsible for the set-up/operation of various types of machine shop equipment inclusive of, but not limited to CNC HMC's, VMC's, multi-axis turning centers, manual machines, etc., to produce products in a safe, effective/efficient manner to meet operational requirements. The Shop Tech Apprentice assists in conducting documentation review, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, equipment set-up/operation and component inspection related activities. The incumbent should be an individual who can multi-task and perform various machine shop related activities which are to be conducted in a manner that complies with company requirements (i.e.

regulatory, safety, administrative, etc.).Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:Become familiar with Lean Manufacturing concepts, employee training, GD&T practices, interpretation of machine shop documentation (blue prints, ECN's, operation/tooling sheets, routers, etc.), inspection methods, effective utilization of measuring equipment/instruments, root cause investigations, troubleshooting, and performance metrics. Apply this knowledge to job required tasks, daily and ongoingAssist with coordinating, executing, documenting and bringing to closure machine shop related activities, in a timely manner through effective interaction with supervisors, mentors and other individuals within the organization.Learn set-up and operation of machine shop equipment in an effective, efficient, safe and consistent manner, and apply knowledge as instructedUnder the direction of a trainer, supervisor, or mentor: read and interpret documents (i.e. blueprints/technical drawings, operation/tool/set-up sheets, routers, procedures, ECN's, etc.) in an effective manner to produce conforming product on a timely basis.Interpret various types of graphs/data required for problem solving, SPC and monitoring of performance metricsUnder direction (as needed), set-up and operate various types of CNC and manual machine shop equipment in an effective, efficient, safe and consistent manner to support customer requirementsReview documentation and inspect material to ensure methods, procedures, equipment and tooling are capable of producing conforming product in a safe and efficient manner.Communicate issues to the appropriate personnelEffectively participate in component/material inspections utilizing the appropriate measuring equipment/instrumentsPerform and participate in troubleshooting activities to resolve issues and respond to improvement recommendationsAdditional Duties / Responsibilities:Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goalsContribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organizationConsistently demonstrate commitment to company valuesKeep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/shipping & receiving environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibrationThis job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment.

This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.No travel is expected for this position.Minimum Required Qualifications:High School/(GED) Diploma or equivalentSome Vocational/Technical school experience with focus on set-up/operation of precision (high tolerance) machine shop equipment (Aerospace concentration preferred)Effective verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organizationComputer literate, with MS Office/PC experienceMust be a US CitizenPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feelSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.The employee is regularly required to stand at length (7-8 hours, daily), sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility.The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.Attractive Work Schedule: 4-Day Work Week – Monday-Thursday (6:00AM-4:30PM)We offer a highly competitive compensation package for this outstanding position plus a quarterly bonus along with a full range of top quality benefits and employee services including: medical, prescription, dental, vision, life and disability income insurance programs, 401k retirement plans with company match, generous tuition aid program, paid vacation, sick and personal days, paid holidays and flexible work hours with compressed work week options.
