Onsite Full Time Management & Operations

Wallaby Search & Placement is seeking a hands-on Shop Manager to lead Knox's heavy truck and equipment repair shop in Temple, GA. In this role, you will own the day-to-day operation of a full-service shop, leading a team of 10 to 20 technicians, painters, and shop personnel across mechanical repair, body work, fabrication, and refinishing.

Reporting directly to company ownership, you will keep jobs moving on schedule, hold the line on quality, and serve as the customer's point of contact, from drop-off to delivery. The ideal candidate is a shop leader with a background in heavy truck, fleet, or equipment repair (or a similar industrial setting), who pairs strong mechanical aptitude with the organizational skills to run a busy floor and the leadership ability to build a team around them.

About the Company

Knox is a full-service heavy truck and equipment repair, service, and refinishing shop based in Temple, GA. The team works on a wide range of large commercial trucks and equipment, including garbage trucks, concrete mixers, and other specialized vocational equipment.

With mechanical and equipment repairs, body work, fabrication, sandblasting, painting, and complete refinishing all under one roof, Knox gives customers one shop to handle the job from start to finish. Owner-led and growing, it's a place where the Shop Manager has a direct hand in how the business performs and where it goes next.

You Will

  • Schedule and coordinate technicians, painters, and other shop personnel across mechanical, body, fabrication, and paint work
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of ~20 employees
  • Own the shop's safety program and compliance, and keep the floor safe, clean, and organized
  • Maintain high quality-control standards across repairs, service, body work, and painting, inspecting completed work before equipment goes back to the customer
  • Keep customers informed on job status, timelines, and additional repair needs
  • Coordinate parts, materials, and outside services
  • Partner with ownership to improve efficiency, profitability, and overall shop performance

You Have

  • Previous experience in a heavy truck, heavy equipment, fleet, automotive, industrial, or similar shop environment (preferred)
  • Supervisory or management experience, with the ability to lead a team, solve problems, and hold people accountable
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of repair needs
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to juggle multiple jobs and employees
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to quality
  • Comfort working hands-on in a shop environment
  • Experience with refuse trucks, concrete mixers, vocational trucks, hydraulics, fabrication, sandblasting, or industrial painting (a plus)

You’ll Get

  • Competitive base salary (negotiable based on experience)
  • Annual profit sharing + performance bonus (based on individual and company performance)
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage
  • Regular Monday to Friday work schedule (no weekend time required)
  • A chance to make a big impact at a growing company, where you'll have direct access to leadership
