Shop ManagerThe Shop Manager oversees the management of the Company's equipment and maintenance operations. Schedules and prioritizes equipment repairs and maintenance as well as assigning equipment to staff and projects. Oversees multiple maintenance mechanics establishes productivity goals and tracks progress of work.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInspect and maintain the refrigeration equipmentTroubleshoot specialized equipment and machineryTest lines, components and connections using electrical mechanical and pneumatic test equipmentPerform change and leak checks: pre-start up checksAnalyze equipment failures, by determining cause and making necessary adjustments or repairsEnsure that the Maintenance Department completes all facility service requirementsMaintain a working inventory of spare parts and order parts as needed for preventative maintenance and equipment repairEnsure that the equipment and surrounding areas are kept best in class, quality and conditionSeek new technologies and automation opportunities in lowering the overall manufacturing costsRepair forklift and other machineryUses shop tools and test instruments as neededDiagnose systems for cause of failure or potential failureDisassembles components and inspect partsReassembles components and tests machine operationClean, service and lubricate machinery; adjusts systems and controlsConfer with plant manager to coordinate priority projects; equipment repair, and extent of repairs to be performedCompletes parts request forms and orders parts through various sources such as parts books, CDs, internet websites and parts departmentPerform extensive configuration of hydraulic and electrical systems where new systems or modifications to existing systems are requiredComplete and track work order numbersOther duties as assignedJob Requirements and QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent desired but not required; however, continued training in safety, food safety, quality assurance and other job-related areas will be requiredReta Ciro Refrigeration certification necessary and maintainedA minimum of 2 years of experience in refrigeration repair and maintenanceA minimum of 5 years of experience working as a mechanic or equivalent trainingPrevious agriculture experience is highly desiredA minimum of 2 years of experience with machine operations is acceptableA minimum of 2 years of experience in operation of forklifts, hand and power tools, and basic machine shop skills is requiredMust be able to use necessary work tools and specialty tools and scanners to diagnose, adjust and repair equipmentAbility to communicate in English and Spanish at a fluent level is highly desiredWorking knowledge of engineering drawings, electrical schematics, engineering flow diagrams and basic shop mathStrong electrical and/or mechanical ability with 2 years minimum experience with equipment maintenance of this specific or similar equipment is also highly desiredHave proven experience in setting up and diagnosing malfunctions in hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drive systems and diesel and gas enginesDiagnose and repair hydraulic systems, and electrical systemsAbility to assemble/disassemble equipment without assistanceInspect parts and determine when parts are to be replaced or reusedRepair equipment quickly and accurately while producing quality work and maintaining cost controlsEstablish and maintain an organized, clean work areaMust follow safety guidelines and work safely around and with equipment and other personnelStrong interpersonal skills including; ability to maintain effective working and professional relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and customers; maintain a balanced outlook during stressful times.Knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, GAP, Food Safety, and Quality Assurance gained through education and/or at least 1-year experience working with food manufacturing is preferred, but not required
