Job Description

Must-Have Qualifications Minimum 4+ years of trade experience Strong basic math, reading, and comprehension skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints (metric & standard) Knowledge of layout, fit-up, and fabrication of steel plate and beam Experience using trade tools such as: grinder, hand torch, hydraulic jack, ratchet jack, chain fall, come-along, combination square, framing square, hand level, plumb bob Nice-to-Have Skills 6+ years marine, shipbuilding, or construction experience Knowledge of unit setting and erection, including use of datum lines Familiarity with fit-up and alignment tolerances Advanced blueprint reading skills Position Overview The First-Class Shipfitter is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and erection of metal components used in the construction of marine vessels. Work may include: Structural layout and fit-up Preparing steel for welding Working in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions Supporting production across multiple shifts depending on project demand
