Shift Lead

Overview

The PatientCareCompanion Lead (PCL) helps foster a culture that is centered around quality patient care and teamwork. The PCL oversees all Patient Care Companions(PCCs) and ED Transport employeesthat are scheduled for their respectiveshift. The PCL reports to the Patient Companion Program Manager andClinical Leadership. The focus of the PCL is to ensure all PCCs are supported whilemaintaininghigh-qualitycare for patients and all safetyprotocol.

Requirements

• Mustmaintaina professional appearance.
• Be able to speak and write the English language
• Be knowledgeable ofbasic computer skills
• Be able to stand/sit forlong periods
• Be able to walk around forlong periods
• Be able to lift/transfer patientsinaccordancewithhospital policy
• Have excellentinterpersonalskills and coaching ability
• Havestrong communicationskills and be able to workindependently

PATIENT COMPANION LEADRESPONSIBILITIES

• Upon shift start, reportto staffing, ensure all PCCscheck in/outtimesare recorded onsign in sheet.
• Review 1-1 Assignments for concerns/swaps/shadow shifts.
• Develop daily breakscheduleand ensure each PCC gets their breaks.
• Responsible to round on active assignments andprovidepositivefeedback and corrections.
• Ensureassignment swaps are managed efficiently.
• Trainingnew hires andobtainsignoffand file daily work assignment documents.
• Responsible to write and communicate incident reports,timely, with all pertinent information.
• Responsiblefor ensuring that their teamcompletes annualtasks and trainings appropriately.
• Responsible for reporting call outs/tardiesandassistingwith contacting employees forbackfill.
• Ensure all employeesreviewtheir schedules andareusing the W2W application.
• Responsiblefor checkingemail and W2W every shift for updates.
• Responsible for reviewing weeklypostedschedulesforconcerns/updates.
