Sheetmetal Material HandlerThe Sheetmetal Material Handler is responsible for stocking, transporting, organizing, and delivering materials and parts throughout the production floor to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures raw materials, sheet metal components, and production supplies are accurately handled, stocked, labeled, and delivered according to production schedules while maintaining safety, organization, and inventory accuracy.Key responsibilities include:Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsOperate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and responsiblyPerform daily forklift inspections and report equipment concerns as neededEmpty scrap buckets and remove trash dumpsters as requiredSmash Yaffe roll-offs as directedMaintain cleanliness and organization of work areasStock and deliver materials and sheet metal parts to production areas according to schedulesPut away sheet metal parts and maintain organization of stock materialsUse sheet metal maps to locate stock parts and materialsDistinguish between different gauges and types of materialsLabel raw materials accurately and maintain material identification standardsKeep raw materials stocked in storage racks and production areasOffload raw materials from wooden skids to metal skids as neededStack sheet metal pallets and prepare pallets for vendor returnKeep press brakes stocked with empty palletsMove parts in IFS using Red Time transactions to maintain accurate inventory and production recordsAccurately charge time in the time and attendance system to ensure proper labor distribution and payroll accuracyFollow manufacturing instructions and complete assignments accurately and on timeWork independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and efficiencyEnsure materials are delivered accurately to support production schedules and workflowContribute to team efforts by working cooperatively with coworkers and supporting related functions as neededCommunicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding material needs or inventory concernsComply with all government regulations, laws, company policies, and proceduresMaintain regular attendance and work overtime as required to meet production demandsPerform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor as neededCare for tools and equipment; notify maintenance of equipment issues or malfunctionsDesired qualifications include:High school diploma or equivalent preferred to support continued growth and advancement within the companyAbility to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors and leadersEffective communication and strong listening skillsAbility to read and comprehend written instructions and inventory documentationBasic mathematical skills, including the ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16 of an inchAbility to operate and monitor material handling equipment safely and effectivelyStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement or corrective actionAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and maintain positive working relationshipsTools and equipment used include:ForkliftPallet JackHand ToolsBox KnifeTape MeasureComputerSafety GlassesGlovesHearing Protection / Ear Plugs (when required)Physical demands include:Lift/Carry: 10 lbs. or less, 11-20 lbs., 21-50 lbs., 51-100 lbs., Over 100 lbs.Push/Pull: 12 lbs.
