This includes documenting technical specifications, user manuals, release notes, and other related materials. The job duties for a ServiceNow technical writer may include:Researching and gathering information on ServiceNow platform features, functionality, and updatesCreating and maintaining technical documentation for the ServiceNow platform, including user manuals, installation guides, and system requirementsCollaborating with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and complete documentationReviewing and editing documentation for accuracy, consistency, and readabilityManaging documentation releases and version controlProviding training to end-users on how to use the ServiceNow platformCreating and maintaining knowledge articles and FAQsParticipating in ServiceNow platform testing and troubleshooting as neededTo be successful in this role, a ServiceNow technical writer should have excellent writing and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform. They should also be verse in ITIL and able to use programs like Visio to support their writing. They should also be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team. A bachelor's degree in technical writing, computer science, or a related field is often required, along with experience in technical writing and documentation.
Experience with ServiceNow is highly preferred.
