Position Summary
The Server is the front-of-house service professional on the floor, responsible for guest first impressions and orchestrating the guest experience, leading service execution, and setting the standard for hospitality, professionalism, and product knowledge in a fine-dining and membership environment.
In conjunction with the entire hospitality team, the server functions as a service conductor and culture carrier— anticipating guest needs, and ensuring every detail of the dining experience reflects the restaurant’s values, standards, and hospitality vision.
Guided by the principles of Best in Class Hospitality and Servant Leadership, the Server leads by example, creating calm, confident, emotionally intelligent service while elevating the team’s understanding of cocktail, wine, and guest engagement.
Core ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & Service Excellence- Deliver flawless, anticipatory service to assigned tables and priority guests.
- Lead guests through the cocktail and wine program with confidence, clarity, and storytelling.
- Create personalized, emotionally resonant experiences.
- Ensure pacing, timing, and flow meet fine-dining standards.
- Serve as a wine and spirit authority on the floor, supporting pairings, recommendations, and tableside presentation.
- Execute polished beverage service, including decanting and classic service rituals.
- Assist in mentoring back servers on wine knowledge, sales technique, and service language.
- Collaborate with the bar team and management to communicate bar program features.
Floor Leadership & Coaching
- Act as on-floor leader during service, supporting servers, runners, and support staff.
- Provide real-time coaching on steps of service, guest communication, and technical execution.
- Support section management, table turns, and service recovery.
- Model professionalism, composure, and emotional intelligence at all times.
- Uphold mise en place, table settings, service choreography, and cleanliness standards.
- Support onboarding and training through shadowing and example.
- Reinforce hospitality behaviors, language, and presentation.
Wine and Spirits Expertise (one of the following required):
- Formal wine education such as WSET, CMS, or equivalent, OR
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a fine-dining or luxury hospitality environment with a strong, curated wine and cocktail program, including regular involvement in wine presentation, pairings, and guest education.
Hospitality & Leadership:
- 3+ years of fine-dining or high-end service experience.
- Prior experience as a Lead Server, Server, Head Waiter, or Senior Server strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of classic service techniques and etiquette.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to lead peers through influence, not ego.
- Exceptional communication, presence, and composure under pressure.
- Passion for hospitality as a craft and a desire to mentor others.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry trays, wine cases, and service equipment.
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Guests feel deeply cared for and confidently guided through food and wine.
