Sensing and Communications ScientistSalary: $$ - $$ per yearLocation: Groton, ConnecticutJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to contribute to the success of our Sensing and Communications Department. Ideal candidates will have an MS or PhD and a background in subsea technology, acoustics, electronics design, sonar signal processing, autonomous systems, software, and an understanding of Navy technologies and operations are desirable.We work on exciting, technically-challenging, research and development programs where multidisciplinary teams work closely to address challenging national security needs. This position will allow applicants to collaborate with subject matter experts across the company as well as both lead and/or make meaningful contributions to project teams and their objectives.

Applicants will have an opportunity to participate in all parts of the research and development process, from first-principle analysis through to prototyping and testing of integrated systems.Responsibilities:Support design and development of complex undersea acoustic systemsSupport development and execution of a number of ongoing and future programs pertaining to areas of innovative maritime systemsSupport cross-functional teams to address complex system design challenges, while satisfying rigorous design requirementsSupport the design and execution of at-sea experimentsRequired:An MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or a related technical disciplineExperience supporting and partnering with senior technical staff to develop innovative technology solutions that meet customer/user needsAbility to technically contribute to and lead a variety of complex technical tasks at a detailed levelExcellent communication and interaction skills with project managers, IPT leads, and customersExperience with the design or use of acoustic communication systemsWorking knowledge of digital and analog circuitsRigorous understanding and application of fundamental physics and mathematics principlesDesired:Experience successfully managing multiple multidisciplinary technical programs, with responsibilities including scheduling, budgeting, resource coordination, and accountability for deliverablesAlternatively, experience with US Navy undersea warfare leadership and operationsExperience contributing to and leading programs through various stages along the technology lifecycle, from science and technology to research, development and deploymentExperience designing complex undersea systems with custom PCBs, embedded software, and data acquisition, and signal processing1 or more years experience developing and/or designing communications systems for wireless and/or underwater applicationsWhy is This a Great Opportunity?We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to contribute to the success of our Sensing and Communications Department.
