Summary

This position resides within the Content & HPC (High Performance Computing) group, specifically as a Lead Geospatial Engineer performing as a project lead in the development of real‑time geo‑spatial database content for simulation and training.

The Lead Geospatial Engineer will have strong GIS, 3D modeling, and visualization skills and will lead a team of geo‑spatial database developers. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate and delegate work tasks, provide oversight and guidance, and work both independently and as part of a team, including customer interactions. Experience in Windows and LINUX development is a plus. The employee is expected to assist in the design, development, and implementation of solutions in a collaborative environment, working within agreed budgets and schedules and following organizational processes.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS/Earth Science, a related engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • Background in one or more of the following areas: Image Science, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing/Data Fusion, Geo‑Imaging/Processing, Spectral/Imagery Analysis
  • Experience executing projects through the full development lifecycle, from requirements to customer acceptance
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience defining and executing business processes
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks
  • Problem‑solving and ability to find multiple solutions to issues
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience dealing directly with customers
  • Windows Office Suite proficiency
  • Experience in Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management
  • Experience in Project Scheduling
  • Experience authoring white papers and technical presentations is a benefit

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience in project management and execution
  • 8+ years’ experience in acquisition and manipulation of a wide variety of aerial and satellite imagery, elevation data, and vector data
  • 8+ years’ experience in Photoshop, primarily image cleanup and color correction
  • 8+ years’ experience in ArcGIS
  • 8+ years’ experience in creating moving and static 3D models using software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, or Creator
  • 5+ years’ experience in database creation for multiple image generation systems, such as Aechelon, MetaVR, Vital, or Quantum3D
  • 5+ years’ experience leading team development efforts
  • Workflow Management tools experience (e.g., ClearCase, ClearQuest, Perforce, Atlassian, RTC)
  • Modeling tools experience (e.g., Terra Vista, Creator, Maya, 3D Studio Max)
  • Global Mapper
  • Erdas
  • FME
  • ArcGIS Toolset

Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials in any form. Shall not divulge any information or grant access to other employees without a need‑to‑know. Shall not disclose information outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company‑provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment, routinely involving standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Must be able to work in confined spaces for long periods.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work indoors in a professional open‑office environment for long periods
