Role Summary

Senior User Experience Researcher – Montefiore’s Experience Design and End‑User Research team is seeking an individual contributor passionate about shaping how people engage with their healthcare journey. This role involves conducting strategic research that informs design and product decisions across digital channels and building and scaling research capabilities across the organization.

Responsibilities

Research

  • Lead generative and evaluative research across web, mobile, voice, and emerging platforms.
  • Develop rigorous research plans and deliver clear, user‑centered actionable insights.
  • Recruit participants, create stimuli, develop discussion guides, moderate interviews, program surveys, synthesize findings, and produce reports.
  • Set high standards for research quality, clarity, and strategic relevance.
  • Improve research processes, tools, templates, and deliverables to support a scalable practice.

Collaboration

  • Partner closely with technology, operations, and clinical teams to integrate insights into daily work.
  • Facilitate workshops using design‑thinking methods to solve problems.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to align goals and priorities.
  • Improve Design and End‑User Research team operations.

Craft Leadership

  • Provide research guidance to other digital team members.
  • Explore new tools, methods, and approaches to strengthen research practice.
  • Seek mentorship and feedback to develop research skills.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and empathy in team interactions.
  • Take initiative to understand user needs and business goals.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a senior‑level User Experience Researcher with strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods and a passion for improving digital experiences. The role requires independence, adaptability, and proactive research leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience conducting user research for digital products across platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human‑computer interaction, product design, information design, human factors, psychology, social sciences, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Proven ability to design and execute research plans that deliver clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience translating findings into strategic recommendations for design, product, and executive audiences.
  • Experience evaluating accessibility and inclusive design across channels.
  • Ability to prioritize research based on business value, user impact, and confidence.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Strong workshop facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity.
  • Track record of building collaborative relationships with cross‑functional partners.
  • Expectation of periodic onsite presence at Westchester or Bronx locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, clinical workflows, or patient‑facing digital tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, accessibility compliance).
  • Experience guiding research for emerging technologies such as AI, wearables, or voice interfaces.
  • Experience contributing to service blueprinting and journey mapping.
  • Ability to contribute to strategic planning with cross‑functional partners.
  • Experience mentoring others in research methods.
