This role is ideal for a seasoned commercial title underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working independently on complex matters while partnering closely with major clients, developers, lenders, and title agents.Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwrite and analyze complex commercial title insurance transactions throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and VirginiaProvide underwriting guidance, risk analysis, and coverage determinations on sophisticated commercial real estate mattersReview title commitments, surveys, endorsements, and related transaction documentsDraft and negotiate title insurance coverage and underwriting approvalsSupport national and regional commercial clients, including lenders, developers, investors, and law firmsPartner with title officers, agents, and business development teams to facilitate transaction closingsServe as a trusted resource for underwriting strategy and problem-solving on challenging dealsMaintain strong knowledge of regulatory, legal, and underwriting developments within the DC/MD/VA marketsQualifications4+ years of commercial title underwriting experience, preferably at a national title insurance company or sophisticated title agencySignificant hands-on underwriting experience within Washington, DC, Maryland, and VirginiaStrong background handling complex commercial real estate transactionsAbility to independently manage and underwrite sophisticated deals with minimal supervisionDeep understanding of commercial title insurance policies, endorsements, and underwriting practicesExperience working directly with large commercial clients, law firms, and lendersExcellent analytical, communication, and client relationship skillsJD strongly preferredExisting client relationships, agency connections, or portable business are highly valuedPreferred BackgroundCandidates coming from national title underwriters, major competitors, or sophisticated commercial title agencies are especially encouraged to apply.
