Senior Underwriter / Underwriting Team LeadRole Overview: The Senior Underwriter / Team Lead is a player-coach role responsible for driving underwriting output, improving decision quality, and coaching a team of underwriters and sales representatives. Their continued success depends on bringing in leaders who can oversee a team.Location: This position is onsite in NYC or Ridgewood, NJKey ResponsibilitiesLead complex underwriting decisions and escalations.Oversee profitability for a team consisting of ISO Reps and UnderwritersSet decision frameworks and quality thresholds for team output.Coach, train, and performance-manage underwriters.Partner with revenue/production leadership to improve conversion quality.Monitor approval quality, decline trends, and downstream portfolio behavior.Maintain SLA discipline for turnaround and communication.Help hire and onboard additional underwriting talent as needed.Required Skills/Experience5+ years underwriting experience in MCA/revenue-based/specialty SMB lending.Prior leadership experience as senior underwriter, team lead, or manager.Proven ability to balance speed with disciplined risk controls.Strong judgment, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.Track record of improving team consistency and throughput.Nice to HavesExperience building underwriting scorecards/frameworks.Experience leading in high-volume broker/ISO originations.Exposure to portfolio analytics and performance calibration.What's in it for you:Base Salary of $100K - $150K DOE with OTE of $200K to $300K401K - Employer MatchedMedical, Dental and VisionHybrid Work Environment, Weekly Lunch Stipend, Company Hosted EventsCareer DevelopmentPTO, Sick and Personal DaysHigh-visibility role with direct impact on funded quality and growth outcomes.Full-time, NYC onsite role with strong long-term growth path.
