nJob description:
nBe the calm, steady hand that turns moving day chaos into a seamless experience.
nIf you thrive on bringing order to chaos and love being the person everyone counts on to keep a big day running smoothly, this role may be a fit for you! We're looking for a highly organized, client-focused Lead Move Manager who can take full ownership of a move from the first walkthrough to the final box set down. This job is part project manager, part crew leader, and part client advocate, all backed by a supportive, team-oriented company culture.
nIn this role, you'll oversee complex residential and commercial relocations. You'll support clients who are preparing for major life transitions—downsizing, relocating, aging-in-place, estate settlements, or moving into senior living communities. You'll help people who are downsizing after 40 years in a home, helping parents move into assisted living, settling estates, or relocating for major life changes. Although we work with families of all sizes at all stages of life, our largest client base is seniors who are in transition.
nThis is not a behind-the-desk coordination job. You'll be on-site directing move crews and vendors, troubleshooting issues the moment they come up, and making sure every move is executed exactly the way it was promised. This is a hands-on position in which you will be working alongside a team to carefully sort, organize, pack and unpack personal belongings based on the client’s move plan. Success in this role comes down to meticulous planning, confident leadership, and the ability to stay calm when a move inevitably throws a curveball.
nThis is a field-based role serving clients in the Washington, DC-Baltimore Metro area. You'll need to be locally-based, have reliable transportation, be available to work three or more consecutive days per week, and ready to be active and hands-on in fast-paced move environments.
nWhat you'll actually be doing:
n• Coordinate and execute residential and commercial moves
n• Serve as the lead point of contact for clients on assigned jobs, including for pre-move planning and move-day
n• Supervise and direct move management crews and vendors onsite
n• Conduct pre-move assessments and post-move walkthroughs with clients
n• Manage inventory, packing logistics, and special-handling items
n• Coordinate with building management and move-in coordinators to ensure compliance with building requirements onsite
n• Resolve issues and escalations quickly and professionally
n• Maintain accurate documentation and client records
nYou may enjoy this role if you:
n• Like being the go-to person who keeps a complex day running smoothly
n• Enjoy hands-on leadership and being on-site rather than behind a desk
n• Take pride in solving problems on the fly
n• Are energized by variety, since no two moves look the same
n• Like building trust with clients during a stressful time in their lives
n• Are comfortable directing a team and making quick decisions under pressure
nThis role may not be for you if:
n• You prefer a predictable, desk-based routine
n• You'd rather avoid physical work or being on your feet for long stretches
n• You get rattled when plans change at the last minute
n• You're not comfortable giving direction to crews or vendors
n• A flexible, multi-day schedule doesn't work for you
nWhat it takes to succeed:
n• Grace under pressure: You maintain professionalism and a customer-centered approach even as others around you are frustrated.
n• Proven project management experience: You have 1-2+ years of experience in move management, relocation coordination, or a related field.
n• Strong leadership: You have experience directing crews or teams and know how to keep people organized, motivated, and on schedule.
n• Excellent communication: You can keep clients, crews, and vendors all on the same page, even when something doesn't go as planned.
n• Tech-savvy: You're proficient with move management software and scheduling tools, and comfortable learning new systems.
n• On-the-road readiness: You hold a valid driver's license, have reliable transportation, and can work three or more consecutive days per week.
n• Physical readiness: You're able to work in active, fast-paced move environments, including lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
nNice to have:
n• Experience handling high-value or specialty items, such as art, antiques, or electronics
n• Experience working with older adults
n• Familiarity with the Greater Washington, DC-Baltimore Metro area
n• Bilingual skills
nApply If:
nYou love being the person who makes a complicated moving day look effortless, and you take pride in leaving every client, and their new space, better than you found them.
nHow to Apply:
nApplicants are asked to submit a resume and three professional references. Submit your resume and references in a single PDF document. Applicants who do not follow instructions will be disqualified. Given the volume of applicants, we will only be able to respond to those who are selected for an interview.
