Senior Specialist, Integration & Test Engineer - Own the mission-critical test bench
Herndon, VA
Build, break, and prove the systems that keep missions online
You live for the lab. Cables, racks, RF chains, and test sets are where you do your best thinking.
In this Senior Integration & Test Engineer role, you’ll own subsystem and system-level testing for complex aerospace/defense systems, from first article through factory acceptance and production. You’ll write the plans, build the setups, and be the one everyone counts on when it has to work.
You’ll touch hardware, software, RF, networking, and environmental qualification – and see your work turn into real mission capability.
If you’ve taken sophisticated systems from prototype through MIL-STD qualification and can speak both test and design, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Work On
You’ll be a key part of a Systems Integration & Test Engineering group working across:
- Subsystem and full system integration in a lab environment
- First Article Qualification Tests (FAT) and Factory Acceptance Tests
- Production and qualification testing to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461
- RF / SATCOM communication circuits and related test setups
- Networked systems involving firewalls, switches, routers, and complex architectures
- Electronic test benches leveraging oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers
- Data center / lab infrastructure (power, racks, cooling, security)
- Automated test procedures and data analysis
You’ll work hands-on with electronic test equipment, communications/network equipment, and custom test sets in support of high-stakes aerospace and defense programs.
Your lab will be where the system proves it’s ready for the real world.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Setting up, configuring, and documenting hardware and software systems under test
- Procuring required equipment to support system builds and test environments
- Creating supporting documentation including drawing trees, parts lists, and interconnect diagrams
- Developing and executing test plans, procedures, and test scripts for subsystem and system-level testing
- Executing and troubleshooting tests on components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and full systems
- Completing test documentation, procedures, and manufacturing build documents
- Conducting qualifications and system-level testing to applicable MIL-STD requirements
- Operating, verifying, and maintaining test sets and test equipment
- Leading and conducting software integration and testing activities
- Supporting product verification and validation throughout the development lifecycle
- Contributing to prototype development of specialized hardware and test fixtures
- Collaborating with engineering, program management, quality, and product leads to ensure successful test outcomes
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, or Graduate degree and 4+ years, or 10+ years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance
- Strong background in integration and test of complex hardware/software systems
- Experience with electronic testing, test process flow, and execution
- Hands-on familiarity with RF / SATCOM communication circuit testing
- Experience with MIL-STD-810 and/or MIL-STD-461 testing
- Ability to analyze and record test outcomes and maintain detailed test documentation
- Familiarity with firewalls, switches, routers, and network architectures including subnetting
- Comfort working with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and similar lab equipment
- Ability to automate test procedures and data analysis activities
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention
You’re the engineer others call when the test bench needs to go from concept to fully wired and debugged, under pressure. You’ve run first article and factory acceptance campaigns, driven down issues with both hardware and software teams, and know how to translate messy lab findings into crisp documentation and action.
You’ve built or improved automated tests in LabVIEW or Python, understand RF chains and network topologies, and are comfortable around data center-style infrastructure and secure lab environments.
Why This Opportunity?
This is where your integration and test work directly supports aerospace, aviation, and defense missions that matter.
You’ll sit at the intersection of hardware, software, RF, and networks, gaining visibility across the full system instead of being locked into a narrow specialty.
You’ll join an established engineering organization with the resources, complexity, and mission profile to keep even a seasoned test engineer challenged.
And you’ll do it in a role where your lab, your procedures, and your test results drive go/no-go decisions.
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required.
U.S. person only; visa sponsorship is not available.
