Senior Technical Staff Engineer-Test EngineerMicrochip Technology Inc. has a Senior Technical Staff Engineer-Test Engineer opening based in our Austin, TX office. We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to join the Timing and Communication Product Group.

In this role, you will develop test programs and assist test development for product releases of SyncE/1588 timing, Clock Distribution and Frequency Synthesizers. As part of the Timing and Communications Group (TCG), the candidate will participate in all aspects of product and test development, from initial specification through volume manufacturing.Responsibilities:Generating test programs for timing based productsDefine and develop high speed low noise ATE test boardsReview new product specifications, advise design teams on product manufacturability for timing based productsWork with applications, marketing, product and reliability groups, for the release of new products, monitoring goals and schedulesEstablish manufacturing guard-bands based on repeatability and characterization dataSupport customer sampling and offshore volume production rampsSupport ongoing subcontractor test activityProduct cost reduction, yield improvement, and test capacity maximizationAnalysis of Customer returned devices and supporting Customer requirementsCharacterize and evaluate new productsRequirements/Qualifications:Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with minimum of 15+ years' experience developing ATE test programs for integrated circuitsStrong understanding of digital and analog circuits, from transistor to system levelHands-on experience with ATE hardware/software development (e.g., Diamond X, J750, Advantest v93k)Must have knowledge in silicon development, validation, qualification, and correlation methodologiesAdvanced statistical data analysis skills; proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C, C++ & Java) and tools (e.g., YieldHub)Familiarity with version control systems (GIT, SVN, Perforce)Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows environmentsSkilled in using bench lab equipment (oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.)Experience working with customers to address technical and logistical concernsProven leadership in multi-geographic product development from concept to productionExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishFlexibility to collaborate with global teams and accommodate lab usage schedulesStrong analytical, and problem-solving skillsPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of IC packaging, testing, and manufacturing technologiesExpertise in generating test procedures and plansProficiency in PCB schematic design, layout, assembly, and debuggingATE programming using Advantest Smartest and Cohu Unison programming environmentsTravel Time:0% - 25%Physical Attributes:Feeling, Hearing, Seeing, Talking, Works Alone, Works Around OthersPhysical Requirements:Standing 10%, Walking 10%, Sitting 80%, Inside 100% Usual Shift: M-F, 8AM - 5PMMicrochip Technology Inc is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
