Temporary Full-Time Statewide Roadside Communication TechnicianThe Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Temporary full-time Statewide Roadside Communication Technician. This position is critical for maintaining roadside communications for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices and other essential monitoring equipment operated by WYDOT throughout the state. These responsibilities ensure the safety of the traveling public and support efficient operations for multiple programs by allowing for remote monitoring of equipment.

Preference may be given to those who are WYDOT Tower Climbing Certified.Knowledge:Knowledge of contracts and contract administration, including internal WYDOT projects and contracts with outside sources, such as broadband providers.Knowledge of network design, including broadband, radio, fiber and other communication methods.Knowledge of ITS, and traffic control devices.Ability to serve as an expert regarding communications to roadside devices.Ability to provide support to Emergency Communication and ITS technicians.Ability to provide recommendations on contract projects via the WYDOT design process and then see projects through construction, including providing expert inspection and subsequent reports.Knowledge of all devices at the roadside, including those from other departments, to provide a complete end-to-end connectivity solution.Network troubleshooting, monitoring, and implementation are key components of managing network security.Minimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Telecommunications)Experience: 1- 3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of Technical Operations TechCertificates, Licenses, Registrations: Some agencies may require a Class A Commercial Driver's LicenseOR Education & Experience Substitution: 2 - 4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of Technical Operations TechNecessary Special RequirementsPhysical Working Conditions:Extensive travel is required for this positionAbility to climb 200 + foot communication towersAbility to lift 50 + poundsAbility to work in adverse weather conditionsNotes:FLSA: Non-ExemptThe Wyoming Department of Transportation is a Drug-Free Workplace.Must complete a DCI background check.E-Verify: WYDOT uses E-Verify, an Internet-based system, to confirm the eligibility of all newly hired employees to work in the United States.
