Position Summary
Primary responsibility writing and editing detailed technical proposals and project plans for KBI services aimed at contract process development, analytics, and GMP manufacturing of biotherapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Review client RFPs and coordinate with cross-functional SMEs to clarify scope of work and deliverables.
- Develop proposals by assembling background, product design, technical information, tasks, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, methods, and budget.
- Write, revise, and edit proposal drafts, including executive summaries, assumptions, scopes of work, pricing, and timelines (e.g., Gantt charts).
- Ensure accuracy of proposal content, pricing calculations, timelines and alignment to best practices and templates.
- Maintain quality results using proposal writing standards and templates.
- Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates.
- Participate in client meetings from a technical sales role, representing KBI’s technical capabilities.
- Support client meetings, address corrections, refinements, and alternative project plans.
- Develop, manage, and maintain a centralized RFI/RFP knowledge database.
- Coordinate proposal development workflow between business development and SMEs, and prepare minutes and escalation documents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science with 5+ years of scientific or biotechnology experience in research, development, manufacturing or technical support, OR Master of Science with 2+ years, OR Ph.D with 1+ year.
- Proven scientific writing skills and experience in proposal or RFP writing.
- Ability to work within cross-functional teams to fulfill client needs and expectations.
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
- High orientation for quality, customer service, integrity, and personal responsibility.
- Analytical strengths with attention to detail and solution-oriented approaches.
- Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
Benefits
- Salary range: $84,000 – $115,500 (subject to experience and qualifications).

Location & Travel
Remote‑eligible; preferred to work onsite in Durham, NC 1–2 times per week. Up to 10% travel.
