HII Mission Technologies InternshipThis is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies (HII-MT) Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII-MT.Objective: The SkillBridge intern will train as a Senior Technical Data Maintenance Technician within HII Mission Technologies, supporting AFLCMC/WB weapon system programs. Under the supervision of an HII logistics or engineering lead, the intern will gain hands-on experience in technical data development, sustainment planning, life-cycle logistics, and technical order processes.
The intern may participate in real technical data and logistics tasks. All work products will be reviewed, validated, and released exclusively by HII employees to ensure full compliance with DoD SkillBridge and representation restrictions.Desired End State (3-Month Target): At the end of this training, the intern will learn:Apply USAF TO 00-5-3, MIL-STD-3048, and S1000D standards.Assist in developing, updating, and validating technical data and IETM content.Support CSDB workflows and technical data quality checks.Understand DoD , USAF sustainment policy, and Product Support Elements (PSEs).Support LCSP development, LSA tasks, and sustainment engineering inputs.Participate in depot planning and DSOR-related activities.Translate aircraft maintenance experience into technical data and sustainment requirements.Identify discrepancies, maintenance impacts, and sustainment risks.Strengthen documentation discipline, communication skills, and cross-functional collaboration.Prepare for transition into technical data, logistics, or sustainment engineering roles.HII Mission Technologies will benefit from the intern's operational insight, maintenance expertise, and disciplined approach to technical data accuracy and sustainment readiness.Assumptions / Restrictions:SkillBridge interns do not represent HII to DoD or Government customers.All work performed by the intern is training only and is reviewed, validated, and released solely by HII employees.Interns may train on base with HII personnel when authorized by installation leadership.Interns may participate in real technical data and logistics tasks as long as:They do not perform billable work.They do not independently deliver products to the customer.They do not act as HII representatives.All customer interactions occur through HII employees only.Training Location: Patrick AFB, FL Program of Instruction (POI) - Training PlanPhase 1 - Foundations and Technical Orientation (Weeks 1-4):Week 1 - Orientation and Program OverviewWeek 2 - Technical Data Standards and TO SystemWeek 3 - Technical Order Development and Data QualityWeek 4 - Logistics Foundations and Sustainment PolicyPhase 2 - Logistics Analysis and Sustainment Execution (Weeks 5-8):Week 5 - Life-Cycle Sustainment PlanningWeek 6 - Logistics Support Analysis (LSA)Week 7 - DMSMS and Supply Chain ConsiderationsWeek 8 - Depot Planning and DSOR ActivitiesPhase 3 - Technical Data Integration, Cross-Functional Collaboration and Capstone (Weeks 9-12):Week 9 - IETM Development and S1000D ApplicationWeek 10 - Cross-Functional CollaborationWeek 11 - Advanced Technical Data and Sustainment IntegrationWeek 12 - Capstone, Evaluation and TransitionAdditional Goals:Build professional relationships within the logistics, sustainment, and technical data community (internal only).Gain exposure to HII's broader Mission Technologies portfolio.Strengthen readiness for future roles in technical data management, logistics, or sustainment engineering.Minimum Qualifications:Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service.Applications accepted within final 12 months of active-duty US military service.Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.Minimum of 10 years of logistics relevant DoD experience.10 years of verifiable experience maintaining military aircraft in a flight line environment.Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a SAP and/or SCI environment.Expert in maintaining aircraft electrical & environmental (E&E) systems.Experience developing, using, and maintaining USAF Technical Orders (TOs).Working knowledge of USAF TO 00 5 3, AIA/ASD S1000D specification, MIL STD 3048, and associated Business Rules.Active TS/SCI clearance.Preferred Requirements:Bachelor's degree in logistics, management, engineering, or a related science/technical field.HII is more than a job - it's an opportunity to build a new future.
