Tax ManagerWe are seeking a highly skilled and client-focused Tax Manager to join a growing and dynamic public accounting firm. This individual will play a key leadership role in managing complex tax engagements, advising clients on strategic tax matters, and mentoring a high-performing team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to client service and business development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage complex tax engagements for corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals across a variety of industriesProvide proactive tax planning, consulting, and advisory services to minimize tax liabilities and support client growth initiativesServe as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, long-term relationships built on trust and responsivenessIdentify opportunities to expand services and add value to client engagementsOversee the full lifecycle of tax engagements, including scoping, quoting, budgeting, execution, and billingReview and approve federal, state, and local tax returns prepared by managers and staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timelinessMonitor engagement progress and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budgetPrepare and review client invoices, ensuring appropriate realization and profitabilityConduct advanced tax research and provide guidance on complex tax issues, including multi-state and entity-specific considerationsDraft technical memoranda and documentation supporting tax positions and planning strategiesServe as a key technical resource for managers and staff, providing training and ongoing supportStay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends, and communicate impacts to clients and internal teamsSupervise, mentor, and develop managers, senior associates, and staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance cultureProvide ongoing feedback, coaching, and formal performance evaluationsManage team workflow, delegate assignments effectively, and resolve team conflicts as they ariseSupport recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts as the team continues to growQualificationsCPA designation preferred (or actively pursuing)7+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a strong focus on taxDeep technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations for corporations, partnerships, and individualsProven ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop teamsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholdersBachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation or related field preferredProficiency in tax software such as CCH Axcess and/or ProSystem fx, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
