A law firm seeks a Senior Tax Attorney in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This full-time, on-site position offers a unique opportunity to engage in both tax controversy and transactional law. Duties
- Represent clients in federal and state tax audits, appeals, and litigation.
- Draft legal memoranda, IRS correspondence, and Tax Court petitions.
- Conduct legal research on tax codes, regulations, and case law.
- Negotiate tax resolutions, including Offers in Compromise and penalty abatements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements.
- Advise on legal risks and business terms for corporate transactions.
- Support M&A activities, including due diligence and deal structuring.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups for integrated solutions.
- Develop the firm's client base through referrals and networking.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing.
- Licensed to practice in Puerto Rico or willing to seek admission.
- 3-5+ years of experience in tax controversy or corporate/transactional law.
- Strong legal research, writing, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in practice area growth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Education
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- CertificationsActive bar membership in good standing.
- LL.M. in Taxation or CPA license is a strong plus.
