Tax SeniorThe Tax Senior is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, managing day-to-day client engagements, and supporting the development of junior staff. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to work independently, and increasing client interaction, while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.Positions available in either 1 Penn Plaza, NY or 50 Jericho Quadrange, Jericho, NYKey ResponsibilitiesTax Preparation & ReviewPrepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including:Partnerships (Form 1065)S-Corporations (Form 1120-S)C-Corporations (Form 1120)Individuals (Form 1040), including high-net-worth clientsAnalyze financial data and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completenessIdentify basic to moderately complex tax issues and escalate as appropriateEnsure workpapers are complete, organized, and in compliance with firm standardsClient Engagement & CommunicationServe as a day-to-day contact for assigned clientsCommunicate with clients to request information, clarify issues, and follow up on open itemsAssist in addressing client questions and resolving routine tax mattersBegin identifying tax planning opportunities and bring them forward to Managers/PartnersWorkflow & Deadline ManagementManage multiple engagements simultaneously and meet strict filing deadlinesTrack progress of returns and proactively communicate delays or issuesEnsure all time is entered and released daily in accordance with firm policyUtilize workflow systems to manage assignments and status updatesTechnical DevelopmentConduct tax research on moderately complex issues and document findingsStay current on tax law changes and apply updates to client workDevelop deeper knowledge in specific areas (e.g., pass-through entities, multi-state taxation)Team Support & SupervisionReview work prepared by Associates and provide clear, constructive feedbackTrain and mentor junior staff on technical and process-related mattersAssist Managers with engagement planning and staff delegationPromote accountability and quality within the teamOperational ContributionFollow firm processes related to time entry, billing support, and engagement trackingIdentify inefficiencies or process gaps and recommend improvementsSupport firm initiatives, including training, technology adoption, and process standardizationQualificationsEducation & CertificationBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)CPA license or actively pursuing (strongly preferred)Experience3–5+ years of public accounting experienceDemonstrated experience preparing business and individual tax returnsExposure to reviewing staff work and interacting with clientsTechnical SkillsProficiency in tax software such as CCH AxcessExperience with workflow tools such as XCM, EngagementStrong Microsoft Excel skillsCore CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentEffective communication and interpersonal skillsDeveloping leadership and coaching abilitiesProblem-solving mindset with sound judgmentWork Environment ExpectationsHybrid work schedule (typically 3 days in-office, 2 remote)Increased workload during peak tax seasonsAvailability to communicate with team members and clients during critical deadlines
