The role
Senior Systems Engineer a hands-on senior seat for a doer. Not a ticket-queue role, and not a management track. You’ll own the complex escalations, migrate customers from aging servers and software to current versions, and handle the jobs that need a senior touch from phone system and access-point installs across VLANs to restoring a compromised network from backups. You’ll know our clients by name, and they’ll know you.
What you’ll do
-Own Tier 3 escalations across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server, networking, and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V)
-Lead client onboarding and migration projects, including multi-site work e.g., moving a 50-computer customer across three locations off a 10-year-old software package
-Own backup and disaster recovery, plus security incident response
-Pitch in when junior technicians have questions, and keep documentation solid
-Be a trusted technical advisor to clients including telling them what they need to hear
-Be onsite and at customer sites this role is built for someone who wants to be where the work is
What you bring
-5+ years in an MSP or client-facing IT services role living in a ticketing system, juggling multiple clients, documenting as you go
-Deep, hands-on Microsoft stack: Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server
-Solid networking and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) skills
-Backup/DR ownership experience
-Clear, confident communication with non-technical customers
-You want to be onsite and at customer sites this isn’t a remote-leaning role
-A strong work ethic this is a small, high-volume shop, and the team counts on each other
Location
Primarily onsite in the Birmingham metro area, with regular time at customer sites.
Compensation
$90,000 $110,000 base salary.
