Senior System Safety EngineerThis is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team.As a Senior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programsPerforming MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer's approved equivalentCoordinating with customer safety representatives, applying methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teamsCoordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authoritiesWorking across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controlsCollaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgroundsPerforming System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analysesBriefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval processInterpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standardsPreparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety programCollaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and designInterfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware EngineeringManaging System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representativesAbility to work on Special Access Program(s)Qualifications you must have:Typically requires a Bachelor's in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experienceExperience with System Safety Engineering and/or Software Safety EngineeringExperience with complex systems and evaluating them for riskAn active and transferrable final U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. US citizenship is required, as only U.S.

citizens are eligible for a security clearanceQualifications we prefer:Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). This includes hardware and software safety related tasksExperience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 / DO-178Experience with presentation skillsExperience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research materialExperience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal DevelopmentExperience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472.Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working GroupsWhat we offer:Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
