Senior Systems Engineer — Suffolk County, NY
We're working with a technology support advisor to medium-sized businesses across the New York area to find a Senior Systems Engineer for their Technical Services team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and guiding the work of Help Desk and On-Site Engineers.
Location: Suffolk County, NY (exact work sites shared at interview); some local travel
What you'll do:
- Be the senior escalation point for Help Desk and On-Site Engineers, mentoring them and reviewing their work
- Lead deployments of servers, SANs, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless
- Administer Microsoft environments (Windows Server, Exchange, Office 365) and VMware or Hyper-V
- Design and support site-to-site and remote access VPNs
- Run Microsoft Server migrations (AD, file servers, SQL, Exchange)
- Advise clients on infrastructure and deliver projects within scope and budget
- Document client environments and resolve incidents within SLA
Requirements:
- 5+ years in IT with end-user support; MSP experience preferred
- 3+ years with VMware, backup and recovery, and firewalls/IPS/web filtering
- VPN design and Microsoft Server migrations
- Cabling knowledge and strong network troubleshooting
- Strong communicator, able to work independently
- Willing to do on-call rotation
Salary: up to $130k base salary per year
