Senior Survey Office Technician (SIT), Brownsville, TXAs Halff continues to grow our Survey practice, we are looking for an experienced Senior Survey Office Technician (Surveyor-in-Training) to join our team in Brownsville, TX.In this role, you'll play a critical part in supporting survey and mapping projects from the office while collaborating closely with field teams and licensed surveyors. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is looking to grow their career—with long-term potential that includes professional development and ownership in the firm.What you will do:Perform records research and develop deed sketchesReduce and process survey field dataPrepare survey plats, subdivision plats, and topographic mapsDevelop metes and bounds descriptionsSupport the RPLS with boundary analysis and resolutionOrganize research and documentation to improve field team efficiencyCreate detailed CAD drawings, digital terrain models, and mapping deliverablesProcess survey data including field notes, GIS data, imagery, and point cloudsCollaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project teams to meet project goalsPrepare clear, accurate reports and deliverables for internal and client useAssist with quality control, compliance, and safety standardsUtilize tools such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and other geospatial softwareSupport occasional field operations, equipment maintenance, and data collection as neededWhat You'll Need:3+ years of experience as a Survey Technician (SIT candidates encouraged to apply)Experience with:Records research and deed sketchesSurvey mapping and plat preparationCivil 3D (required)Working knowledge of land surveying principles and practicesFamiliarity with survey equipment (total stations, GPS/GNSS, data collectors)Strong skills in data reduction, calculations, and technical reviewProficiency in CAD and Trimble Business Center softwareAbility to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detailStrong communication and collaboration skillsDependable, organized, and committed to meeting deadlinesAbility to work both independently and within a team environmentWillingness to travel and support field operations as neededValid Texas Driver's LicensePhysical Requirements:Able and willing to travel to the Brownsville, TX office location, Monday through Friday, during normal business hoursAble to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periodsWillingness to work overtime or weekends when project demands requireAbility to pass a drug and background screeningPreferred Qualifications:Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related fieldExperience preparing metes and bounds descriptionsFamiliarity with Trimble softwareCST Level III certification (or in progress)Why Halff?At Halff, we're more than a consulting firm—we're a team focused on people, purpose, and long-term growth.
