Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain quality standards for raw and intermediate materials for use in manufacturing
- Monitor incoming raw material quality using SPC tools and engage with suppliers when issues arise
- Support troubleshooting of supplied material issues in manufacturing, facilitate Root Cause Investigations (RCIs) related to the supplied material’s impact on final product performance, and develop mitigation strategies to prevent excursions
- Manage supplier performance by conducting regular QMS and technical audits, leading quality meetings, and tracking improvement activities
- Provide performance feedback to suppliers based on quarterly scorecards and convey electronics industry expectations regarding management of change and process control
- Drive the improvement of quality and performance of suppliers’ quality systems, including management of change and notification protocols, root cause investigations, documentation and reporting, calibration, and non-conforming material review systems
- Fully understand supplier’s manufacturing process, control methods, measurement, and quality systems to develop raw material risk mitigation FMEAs
- Drive raw material and sub-supplier changes through the change management process
- Ensure new and existing raw material supply plans align with business strategy
- Use risk assessment tools to determine second source opportunities and alternate agreements with current suppliers
- Manage qualification planning, trials, and data packages for new raw materials, suppliers, or supplier process changes
- Coordinate analytical tasks and work with subject matter experts to understand raw material characteristics
- Work with stakeholders to link key parameters of material analysis to process/product performance
- Lead cross functional taskforces with Process Engineering, R&D and manufacturing stakeholders as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.
