As a Senior Substation Project Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of high-voltage infrastructure projects, driving technical excellence from initial conceptualization through to final commissioning. You will serve as a critical bridge between development teams and construction execution, ensuring that all engineering designs meet rigorous safety, regulatory, and performance standards.

About the Role

As a Senior Substation Project Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of high-voltage infrastructure projects, driving technical excellence from initial conceptualization through to final commissioning. You will serve as a critical bridge between development teams and construction execution, ensuring that all engineering designs meet rigorous safety, regulatory, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical direction and due diligence of external engineering partners to ensure full compliance with IEEE, NESC, and ASCE standards.
• Manage project scope and engineering requirements during the early development phase to ensure seamless project handoffs.
• Represent organizational interests in high-level stakeholder meetings, providing clear risk mitigation strategies and progress briefings.
• Collaborate with transmission services to integrate complex interconnection studies, including harmonic and reactive power analysis, into final project designs.
• Streamline the procurement process by preparing technical specifications and managing engineering service requests.
• Ensure all substation designs align with ISO requirements and regional transmission owner mandates.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Extensive experience in high-voltage substation design and project engineering.
• Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects and cross-functional teams.
• Deep understanding of industry codes, permitting processes, and interconnection documentation.

Preferred Skills

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure in a relevant discipline.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience navigating regulatory environments and transmission interconnection agreements.
