We are hiring a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to develop electrical projects for electric utilities ranging from 12kV to 500kV. The role requires digital logic design and AC/DC circuit knowledge.
Hybrid Work Schedule
3 days a week in Orlando, FL office, with flexible arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Execute substation physical projects.
- Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects.
- Read and design substation physical drawings, including one‑line, three‑line, plan‑section, foundation, and grounding drawings.
- Create and verify bill of materials for substation physical projects.
- Attend site visits at customer locations.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and CAD technicians as part of the design team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of related substation physical design experience.
- Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- High computer competency.
- Willingness to travel to projects and/or client sites.
Preferred Certifications & Additional Skills
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Knowledge of protection and control design.
- Experience with bus calculation.
- Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification.
