Role Description The Senior Structural Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in North Aurora, IL. This position focuses on leading structural design and analysis for infrastructure and industrial projects, preparing calculations and drawings, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. The role includes coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, reviewing and sealing design documents, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers and designers. Day-to-day responsibilities involve performing structural assessments, supporting construction phase services, addressing field issues, and developing cost-effective, safe, and sustainable solutions. The Senior Structural Engineer also contributes to project planning, client communication, and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Strong structural analysis and design skills using relevant codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE), and proficiency with structural engineering software (such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, or similar tools).
  • Experience preparing and reviewing structural drawings, specifications, and calculation packages in collaboration with CAD/BIM teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project tasks, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support construction activities including field inspections and resolving design-related questions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical reports, presenting design recommendations, and interacting with clients and stakeholders.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Structural or Civil Engineering, or eligibility to obtain within a defined timeframe; SE licensure is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in infrastructure, transportation, industrial, energy, or building projects; familiarity with rail/transit, highway, or utility structures is beneficial.
  • Proven commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative project team.
