You will be responsible for design, oversight and coordination with early career professionals, clients, and sub-consultants. You’ll direct, oversee and be responsible for the technical quality of challenging engineering tasks in accordance with client expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. Working with a team of project managers, engineers, and support staff you will provide structural engineering services for electrical generation and transmission projects.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Work effectively with multi-disciplinary global project teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a learning environment, support fellow engineers, with mentoring opportunities and career development.

  • Provide technical direction and review of designs developed by intermediate and entry level engineers.
  • Review existing client standards for incorporation into program and project delivery.
  • Review designs for cost-saving opportunities and consistency in design.
  • Develop conceptual designs and Scopes of Work for projects undergoing regulatory approvals.
  • Respond to contractor requests for information (RFI).
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and participate in project reviews.
  • Perform a technical review of bids and recommend the most qualified bid.
  • Attend construction kickoff meetings and lead constructability reviews with the construction oversight team.
  • Guide engineering activities in the stage-gate process and review as-built drawings for final approval.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably for electrical utility clients, including one or more of the following facility types: electrical substation, transmission and distribution, thermal generation.
  • Experience in structural engineering aspects of utility projects with a focus on structures typically used within electrical substations and related energy infrastructure.
  • Proficient in structural analysis tools such as Mathcad, RISA, STAAD, STAAD Foundation, RISA3D, RISA Foundation, LPile, etc.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $114,400.00 to $150,075.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Eligible employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount. Eligible employees may also enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan. Jacobs has an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full-time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, and caregiver leave. Some roles may be eligible for additional rewards including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.
