Energy & Power is experiencing tremendous growth, delivering the Energy Transition for utilities and private developers. Projects include transmission and substation work, electrification and decarbonization programs to expand grid capacity, high voltage interconnectors and offshore grids, and integration of these elements to build a cleaner and more resilient energy future.
You will be responsible for design, oversight and coordination with early career professionals, clients, and sub-consultants. You’ll direct, oversee and be responsible for the technical quality of challenging engineering tasks in accordance with client expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. Working with a team of project managers, engineers, and support staff you will provide structural engineering services for electrical generation and transmission projects.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Work effectively with multi-disciplinary global project teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to a learning environment, support fellow engineers, with mentoring opportunities and career development.

- Provide technical direction and review of designs developed by intermediate and entry level engineers.
- Review existing client standards for incorporation into program and project delivery.
- Review designs for cost-saving opportunities and consistency in design.
- Develop conceptual designs and Scopes of Work for projects undergoing regulatory approvals.
- Respond to contractor requests for information (RFI).
- Attend pre-bid meetings and participate in project reviews.
- Perform a technical review of bids and recommend the most qualified bid.
- Attend construction kickoff meetings and lead constructability reviews with the construction oversight team.
- Guide engineering activities in the stage-gate process and review as-built drawings for final approval.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university.
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably for electrical utility clients, including one or more of the following facility types: electrical substation, transmission and distribution, thermal generation.
- Experience in structural engineering aspects of utility projects with a focus on structures typically used within electrical substations and related energy infrastructure.
- Proficient in structural analysis tools such as Mathcad, RISA, STAAD, STAAD Foundation, RISA3D, RISA Foundation, LPile, etc.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $114,400.00 to $150,075.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Eligible employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount. Eligible employees may also enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan. Jacobs has an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full-time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, and caregiver leave. Some roles may be eligible for additional rewards including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.
