Position Overview

Our client is a growing manufacturer of pre-engineered metal buildings, structural components, and roofing systems serving commercial, agricultural, industrial, and specialty construction markets.

They are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (PE) with strong experience in Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) and Metal Building Systems (MBS) to join their engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to lead structural design, mentor engineers, and contribute to innovative building solutions within a collaborative, in-house environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design and engineering of pre-engineered metal buildings.
  • Design primary and secondary framing systems, cold-formed steel members, roof and wall systems, and foundations.
  • Perform structural analysis, engineering calculations, and prepare sealed engineering documents as required.
  • Design structures in compliance with applicable seismic, wind, snow, and building code requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings and detailing packages for design accuracy and code compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, detailing, and project teams on custom building solutions and design modifications.
  • Support manufacturing integration and engineering change requests.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • California Structural Authority license is highly preferred.
  • Multi-state PE licensure is a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB)
    • Metal Building Systems (MBS)
    • Structural Steel
    • Cold-Formed Steel
  • Proficiency with structural engineering software such as:
    • RISA-3D
    • Tekla Structures
    • Metal Building Software (MBS)
    • CFS or similar engineering software
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • IBC
    • CBC
    • ASCE 7
    • AISC
    • AISI
    • MBMA Design Manuals
    • Seismic, wind, and snow load design requirements
  • Experience working with metal building manufacturing or steel fabrication is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a licensed Structural Engineer with extensive experience designing pre-engineered metal buildings and structural steel systems. They should be comfortable leading projects, reviewing engineering work, collaborating with manufacturing teams, mentoring engineers, and delivering code-compliant structural designs for commercial and industrial building projects.
