Job Overview

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support a portfolio of primarily federal, industrial, and energy projects, with additional responsibilities on substation and transmission projects.

This senior-level position will serve as a technical lead, requiring extensive experience in foundation design, reinforced concrete, and structural steel, and coordination across disciplines on federal, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support federal projects for USACE, NAVFAC, and AFCEC, acting as the structural technical lead for buildings and non-building structures.
  • Support local industrial and energy-related projects, including structural support for mechanical systems, HVAC equipment, equipment foundations, slabs, pits, and industrial structures.
  • Perform and manage the structural design for new building construction, building renovations, and utility-related facilities.
  • Determine client project requirements and develop reports, specifications, drawings, instructions, and related documents.
  • Participate in predesign site visits and design charrettes in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Assist in preparing fee estimates, scopes of work, and design schedules for project proposals.
  • Coordinate with EITs and/or designers for the production of calculations, drawings, or other related documentation.
  • Coordinate technical work within the structural team and interface with other disciplines.
  • Evaluate the need for design changes and communicate appropriate recommendations to project managers and clients.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between joint venture teams and government representatives.
  • Consult with construction personnel and respond to RFIs and unexpected field conditions.
  • Visit construction sites to monitor progress.
  • Work compensated overtime to fit project needs and team workload.
  • Coordinate with government design standards such as UFC and UFGS.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in foundation design, reinforced concrete, and structural steel.
  • Experience with government design standards such as Unified Facilities Criteria and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS).
  • Experience designing buildings and other structures in accordance with ICC, ASCE, ACI, and AISC codes.
  • Experience designing foundations: spread footings, mat foundations, slab on grade, drilled piers, and other deep foundation systems.
  • Experience as structural lead on multiple concurrent and/or large projects.
  • Proficient in reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and team members.
  • PE License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • International travel capabilities.
  • Experience with seismic design of buildings and non-building structures.
  • Experience in Masonry, CFS, or Wood Design.
  • Experience with design of equipment and machinery foundations subject to dynamic or operational loads.
