About the role
The Senior Statistician is a key member of a cross‑functional study or molecule team. The role applies statistical expertise to design, conduct, analyze, and interpret individual clinical trials, ensuring scientific rigor and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to protocol development and author statistical analysis plans.
- Perform or oversee data analyses and resolve analytical challenges.
- Represent Biostatistics and PDD at study team levels, ensuring statistical rigor.
- Collaborate proactively with cross‑functional teams to align deliverables and timelines.
- Interpret and communicate results in context, influencing study‑level decisions.
- Lead statistical contributions to CSRs and selected regulatory documents.
- Provide functional guidance and informal mentoring to less experienced statisticians.
- Lead or influence study‑level projects or contribute to large project teams or initiatives.
Qualifications
- Hold an MSc, PhD, or equivalent in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical trial statistics in pharma, biotech, or CRO settings.
- Demonstrated experience in design, analysis, and interpretation across different phases.
- Solid understanding of regulatory expectations and statistical methodologies for clinical development.
- Proficiency in SAS and/or R, and familiarity with CDISC standards.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively in cross‑functional teams.
- Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, and strategic agility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in presentation and scientific writing.
- Respect for cultural differences and ability to work in a global workplace.
- Preferable: experience in CVRM diseases, cross‑functional global study teams, translating complex concepts for non‑statistical audiences, early/late drug development, mentoring or scientific leadership in a matrix organization, and strategic portfolio decisions.
Location & Compensation
The position is based in South San Francisco or Boston. Relocation benefits are not available for this posting. Expected salary range for primary location of California is $136,900 – $254,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
