Job Overview
Position: HW/SW Design Engineer (Waynesboro, VA) – 100% on‑site.
Relocation assistance may be available.
Travel: 10% of time.
Clearance required: U.S. Government Secret Clearance and Special Program Access.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design creative and flexible HW/SW solutions with a motivated team of experts.
- Develop software covering real‑time data analytics, pre and post processing, UI/UX design, instrument drivers, utilities, process automation, and firmware for simulation and control.
- Integrate SW/HW components and perform requirements verification.
- Support investigation, resolution, and documentation of product anomalies.
- Consider Design to Cost throughout the development cycle.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, Master’s with 12 years, Ph.D. with 10 years in STEM or related fields; or 4 years of experience may substitute for a degree.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
- Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
- Experience with SDLC and Agile methodology.
- Proficiency in C, C#, C++, and Python.
- Experience with software integration.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with PLC/HMI software (e.g., RS View, RS Logix 5000).
- Experience with hardware driver development.
- Experience with FPGA programming.
- Firmware design experience a plus.
- Experience with RTOS.
- Experience with LabWindows CVI or AMAX.
- Technical lead experience.
- Active Secret clearance.
