- Develop software services extending Equinix networking services through a network-adjacent virtualized compute platform
- Design and manage networking software services in highly concurrent, scalable, distributed transactional systems
- Align technical software-system design with business outcomes and customer SLAs
- Lead and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, unit tests, and integration tests
- Develop observability strategies for software services
- Improve system performance and scale using profiling tools and stress-testing techniques
- Identify technical debt and drive continual software-quality improvement
- Contribute to next-generation networking proof-of-concept projects with cross-functional teams
- Partner with support and operations teams to operationalize and support production software
- Drive innovation, excellence, and collaboration across business functions
- Improve incident-management processes, troubleshooting strategies, and production issue resolution
- Participate in an on-call rotation when software is in production
- Build and maintain components that support customer experience and Equinix's global networks and infrastructure
Requirements
- 7-10 years of experience in software development, preferably building and operating highly reliable distributed systems
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a relevant engineering field, or equivalent industry experience
- Experience building software-defined, multi-tenant networking platforms at scale
- Experience with cloud-native networking technologies and ecosystems
- Deep understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols and concepts, including BGP, EVP-LAN, and IPSEC
- Experience with gRPC and Netconf network management protocols
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other open-source containerization and orchestration alternatives
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure services and technologies
- Expertise automating application deployments into Kubernetes on x86 deployments
- Experience with open-source and networking technologies, ecosystems, communities, and industry forums such as the Linux Foundation
- Good understanding of the application development stack
- Substantive track record with Golang
- Experience leading and mentoring a team of developers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills from engineering to executive level
