Senior Staff Engineer

An innovative technology business is seeking a Senior Staff Embedded Firmware Engineer to join its advanced product development team.

You’ll take ownership of embedded firmware development from architecture and prototyping through testing, production launch and ongoing product support. This is a hands‑on senior role working closely with hardware, systems and validation teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop embedded firmware in C for real‑time applications.
• Define firmware architecture across board and system level.
• Develop drivers, hardware interfaces and control algorithms.
• Debug complex hardware/software issues using laboratory equipment.
• Take designs from concept through implementation, validation and production.
• Collaborate across hardware, systems and test engineering teams.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
• 8–12+ years' professional embedded/firmware experience , depending on qualification.
• Strong C and Python skills.
• Experience with bare-metal and RTOS development.
• Strong embedded debugging and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with microcontrollers, drivers and closed‑loop control.
• Familiarity with modern development tools, source control and engineering documentation.
• Experience taking embedded products into production.

Experience with ARM‑based systems, RTOS platforms, bootloaders, control systems, power electronics, battery‑powered products or regulated hardware would be beneficial.
