Responsibilities
- Provides supervision for students and volunteers as required.
- Maintains a safe and orderly working environment for patients and staff.
- Adheres to the code of ethics of the American Speech and Hearing Association and the Practice Act of the Commonwealth of PA.
- Completes all documentation according to departmental policy and regulatory standards.
- Develops a comprehensive plan of care and provides treatment with appropriate and effective techniques to achieve established goals, emphasizing functional status.
- Assumes accountability for managing the delivery of patient care.
- Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the treatment plan.
- Performs and interprets modified barium swallow studies according to policy.
- Performs and interprets blue dye testing according to policy (i.e., tracheotomy and ventilator).
- Assesses current swallowing function in a variety of settings.
- Recommends specific safe swallowing precautions.
- Recommends diet according to patient needs.
- Progresses patient diet according to policy.
- Collaborates with patient/significant others when establishing goals and treatment plans.
- Participates in the orientation and training of other healthcare team members.
- Incorporates education into daily patient activity and individualizes educational plans based on patient needs.

New Jersey, United States – $60.00-$90.00
