Job Summary
Alliant Energy is modernizing the technology that powers its business and is looking for a Senior Solution Architect to design the blueprint for future integration and modernization initiatives. The role blends solution architecture, enterprise architecture, and hands‑on technical leadership to influence how technology enables the business.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for the immediate team, aligning solutions with enterprise architecture.
- Design and implement architecture‑centric solutions, document and communicate architectural designs of software and hardware.
- Develop, refine, optimize, and support solution architecture to meet business and non‑functional requirements.
- Create and maintain solution architecture artifacts, applying best practices and contributing to approval processes.
- Provide technical guidance to team members, mentor, and solve complex problems.
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand required capabilities, data flows, integrations, and dependencies.
- Collaborate with other architects to choose the most appropriate technical strategy.
- Influence practices, mentor others, and support assessment of compatibility and integration of products and services.
- Participate in other duties that support Alliant Energy values and purpose.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience in IT, including 3 years in software development or application architecture.
- 3 years of experience in solution architecture.
Preferred Experience
- Cloud technologies
- Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Designing new system builds, legacy enhancements, build‑vs‑buy analysis, integrating COTS, SaaS, or PaaS.
- TOGAF methodology and ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
- Understanding of design patterns and object‑oriented analysis and design.
- Integration systems, data transfer approaches, analytics.
- Modeling/diagramming tools.

Benefits and Compensation
