Please note that hybrid eligibility and schedules may vary based on business needs and manager expectations.What you will be doing:We are looking for a hands-on software systems engineer to help lead development of connected consumer and medical products spanning embedded firmware, mobile applications, and cloud services. This role is for an engineer who enjoys working across system boundaries and taking technical ownership of real products shipped to customers.
The role combines software engineering, systems integration, technical leadership, and product execution.You will work closely with firmware engineers, mobile app developers, cloud developers, QA, regulatory teams, and external development partners to help deliver connected products from concept through release and field support. This is not a pure project management role. We are looking for an engineer with strong technical judgment who can help drive architecture, integration, execution, and release readiness across multiple software domains.Drive technical execution for connected product software programsWork across embedded firmware, mobile apps, cloud services, and backend integrationsParticipate in software architecture and system design discussionsHelp define and refine software requirements, workflows, and feature behaviorCoordinate technical activities across internal teams and external development partnersReview software designs, implementation approaches, and technical tradeoffsSupport software verification, validation, and release readiness activitiesInvestigate and help resolve complex cross-functional technical issuesHelp maintain technical consistency across multiple products and software platformsContribute hands-on technical work where needed, including prototyping, debugging, scripting, and implementation supportAssist with software lifecycle documentation and regulated development processes for connected medical productsHelp identify technical risks early and drive issues to closureMinimum Qualifications:BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field4+ years of software engineering experienceStrong systems-level thinking and debugging skillsExperience working with embedded systems or connected devicesExperience working across multiple software layers (firmware, mobile, backend, APIs, cloud, etc.) Ability to understand and troubleshoot interactions between hardware and softwareStrong communication and organizational skillsComfortable working in ambiguous and fast-moving environmentsAbility to work independently and take ownership of technical problemsAuthorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or IoT systemsExperience with mobile application development (iOS, Android, Flutter, or similar)Experience with cloud-connected products and backend APIsExperience in regulated industries such as medical devicesFamiliarity with software lifecycle processes, verification, and traceabilityExperience working with external development partners or offshore teamsExperience with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD systemsEmbedded firmware development experience in C/C++In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $111,000 - 150,000 annually. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance.
