System Safety And Software Safety EngineerThis is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated System Safety and Software Safety Engineers to join an innovative team in Tucson, AZ.What You Will DoAs System Safety and Software Safety Engineers, your responsibilities will include:Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs involving management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.Analyzing engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards.Working with software development teams to review and analyze software code.Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through deployment to gain concurrence with software builds.Assisting with Software and/or Firmware analyses.Participating in the execution of the Software System Safety Program.Interface with various stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.Assisting with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.Assisting with software safety technical reviews.Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design.Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design.Interface with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.Managing System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives.Ability to work on Special Access Program(s)Qualifications You Must HaveTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.Experience with System Safety Engineering, System Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or Safety Engineering experience in Aerospace, Automotive or Medical Device.Experience with risk assessment concepts, such as those included in MIL-STD 882E / DO-178Qualifications We PreferActive/Existing DoD clearanceExperience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 / DO-178Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environmentExperience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal DevelopmentExperience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472.Experience interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working GroupsWhat We OfferOur values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
