We are searching for an exceptional Senior Engineering Manager to join the Aurora Services Engineering team and take on a critical leadership role in building Aurora's suite of fleet management tools.

The Senior Engineering Manager for the Dispatching & Partner Integrations team will lead a team of 8‑10 engineers to own the design, implementation, and operation of solutions for Autonomous Vehicle Fleet Management and Partner API integrations with some of the biggest companies in the trucking industry. You will drive both incremental features to existing products and greenfield new ones to make a significant impact on the way commercial fleet operations function at Aurora.

In this role, you will

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a high‑performing team of 8‑10 software engineers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
  • Design complex systems from the ground up, partnering closely with software, hardware, and infrastructure engineering teams.
  • Lead the team to architect, design, and build frontends and scalable cloud backend services that power real‑time and offline workflows essential for commercial operations, fleet optimization, and autonomy improvement.
  • Drive the execution and delivery of robust, well‑engineered solutions, ensuring high standards of quality, reliability, and engineering practices across the team.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, Autonomy, and Operations stakeholders to define & execute the technical vision and roadmap for the Dispatching & Partner Integrations team.
  • Champion the engineering team and its vision to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and end‑to‑end ownership within the team.

Required Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in software development, including 5+ years of direct experience as an Engineering Manager leading a team of 5+ engineers, with a proven track record of delivering large‑scale backend systems.
  • Deep expertise in cloud backend development, including scalable web services, distributed systems, and modern API design.
  • Experience with external customer‑facing software including production rollout with real customers.
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring a team of engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career path development.
  • Experience working with Product Management and UI/UX Design teams to define & deliver features that impact end users at scale.
  • Phenomenal communication skills, with the capacity to influence both technical and non‑technical stakeholders at all levels. You write effective technical specs, provide constructive feedback, translate technical concepts into lay terms, and incorporate feedback into your efforts. You value and practice openness, empathy, kindness, and collaboration.
  • Experience defining technical roadmaps and driving long‑term strategic projects that span multiple engineering teams.
  • A preference for action. You use good judgment to balance speed and quality, and you drive the engineering team to deliver products that are built responsibly and sustainably.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience in transportation, logistics, or other time‑sensitive operations.
  • Experience with safety and mission‑critical applications.
  • Experience with fleet management solutions for robots, vehicles, or aerial drones.
  • Experience in operations research or optimization algorithms.

The base salary range for this position is $212,000 – $340,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

Work is performed in a hybrid environment with Aurora employees in the office at least three days per week.
