Purpose and Impact
Amentum is seeking a senior software engineer to develop custom analytics that can scale. The engineer will collaborate closely with data scientists and end users to build innovative analytic tools, supporting discovery and tradecraft around critical global challenges. This role focuses on operationalizing data science solutions and delivering them within the customer’s corporate architecture.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work directly with data scientists and mission analysts to solve the most demanding strategic problems.
- Perform end‑to‑end software engineering: prototype, develop, integrate, test, and deploy tools and tradecraft into the customer’s corporate architecture.
- Collaborate with customers on architecture, data flow, and use of big data solutions.
- Maintain a safety culture, ensuring all training requirements and emergency response tasks are completed.
- Adhere to quality standards and comply with Amentum’s Quality Policy and all relevant operational, safety, and environmental procedures.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Strong experience with Jupyter Notebooks, Java MapReduce, and Python PySpark.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning fundamentals.
- Experience with customer tools, architecture, data flow, and big data platforms.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and Agile methodologies.
- Security Clearance: TS/SCI Poly required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with full software development processes—requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, integration, deployment/installation, and maintenance.
- Background in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and use of Large Language Models (LLMs).
Minimum Years of Experience
Degree and experience requirements:Doctoral degree + 4 years, Master’s degree + 6 years, Bachelor’s degree + 8 years, Associate’s degree + 10 years, or high‑school diploma/GED + 12 years of relevant experience (with profoundly related prior experience).
Compensation Details
$150,000‑$200,000 (annual)
