Senior Software Engineer – Python / DevOps

Our client is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (Python, AWS, Workflow Orchestration) to help build and scale a workflow orchestration platform for a rapidly growing organization undergoing a large-scale digital transformation initiative. This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on developing reliable, production‑grade software and workflow automation solutions within a modern cloud environment.

Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer (Python, AWS, Workflow Orchestration)

Compensation: Up to $90/hour

Location: Naperville, IL (Hybrid)

Duration: 3-Month Contract with Strong Possibility of Extension

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or backend application development.
• Strong commercial experience building applications and services in Python.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting production workflow orchestration platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with Prefect or similar workflow orchestration technologies.
• Experience deploying and operating cloud‑native applications within AWS environments.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or comparable technologies.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, observability, and production support practices.
• Experience integrating systems through APIs, distributed services, and data pipelines.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including testing, version control, and code review practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DBT, event‑driven architectures, or modern cloud data platforms.

• Title may be flexible based on experience (e.g., Senior Platform Engineer, Lead Platform Engineer, Staff Platform Engineer, Senior Cloud Engineer).
