- Build and maintain high-quality platform services across backend, integrations, and shared tooling
- Own platform projects end to end, from design through launch, adoption, and iteration
- Partner with Clinical Experience, Member Experience, Care Delivery, and product engineering teams to deliver platform solutions
- Shape integration patterns, caching strategies, shared services, architecture, reliability, observability, and data-informed delivery
- Build and maintain shared libraries, SDKs, internal APIs, documentation, and adoption examples
- Design APIs, data models, and integration patterns supporting the core domain
- Design, implement, and maintain Athena EMR integrations for scalable clinical data synchronization
- Design caching strategies and invalidation patterns to improve performance and reduce external API dependencies
- Define graceful failure modes, timeouts, and efficient queries; participate in design reviews and RFCs
- Write unit and integration tests and instrument services with monitoring and analytics
- Investigate performance bottlenecks and issues through resolution
- Uphold engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor engineers through pairing and knowledge sharing
- Report to the Senior Director of Engineering
- Travel to other Atria locations as needed
Requirements
- ~5+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend or platform systems in production environments
- Track record of owning and shipping services, integrations, or infrastructure in a modern stack
- Experience building and maintaining integrations with external systems and third-party APIs
- Comfortable working in evolving domains and making complex tradeoffs
- Strong backend skills, including API and schema design, data modeling, and resilient system integrations
- Proficiency with TypeScript and Node
- Experience with Redis caching and MySQL or PostgreSQL relational databases
- Experience with at least one cloud provider; Google Cloud Platform is ideally preferred
- Systems design fundamentals covering reliability, performance, and security
- Ability to debug across logs, traces, metrics, and data
- Ownership, clear written and meeting communication, openness to feedback, and continuous-improvement mindset
- Comfortable working with clinicians, operations, and other non-technical partners
- Nice-to-have: healthcare, digital health, or regulated-domain experience, including HIPAA, PHI, or SOC 2
- Nice-to-have: exposure to EHRs, wearable integrations, or health data platforms
- Nice-to-have: developer-facing tooling, SDKs, or internal platform experience
