Senior Software Engineer - Platform & Agents (Robotics)

new york, ny • Posted 1 weeks ago
Onsite Full Time Software Architecture & Engineering

This is an early, high-ownership builder role at a Series A robotics startup building a platform that automates how physical, real-world hardware systems get developed and tested.

Rather than another software layer bolted onto existing tools, the platform handles the full development loop end to end, from simulation to test generation to AI-proposed fixes, spanning software, firmware, and hardware. It's a novel infrastructure-and-agents problem.

Founders : a tight-knit team of classmates from a top computer science program, several with backgrounds at places like Tesla Autopilot and DeepMind, who've already built and sold one company together and are now tackling a much bigger problem in physical AI.

This is an in person role, 5 days a week, out of their New York City office.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run the cloud infrastructure behind the platform's simulations: orchestration, GPU pools, storage, observability.
  • Ship the web app customers use to author, run, and review simulations.
  • Build the SDKs, CLIs, and internal tools that keep engineers and customers moving fast.
  • Build the agentic harness (APIs, MCP servers, evals) that lets coding agents run simulation work end to end.
  • Drive performance, reliability, and cost as usage scales.
  • Work directly with customers to integrate the platform into their pipelines.

Desired Qualifications

  • Generalist engineer who's run production cloud systems (GCP/AWS/Azure, Kubernetes).
  • Strong Python; Rust or C++ a plus.
  • History shipping dev-facing tools, SDKs, APIs, CLIs, that other engineers rely on.
  • Sharp instincts for reliability, performance, and distributed systems.
  • Uses coding agents as a multiplier on top of real engineering chops
  • Has shipped real production systems.
