Jane Street Group, a proprietary trading company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop software in OCaml for their trading and operational infrastructure. The role involves supporting traders across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms, analyzing real-time infrastructure issues, and managing the full software lifecycle from requirements through deployment and monitoring.
What You'll Do
- Develop software in OCaml for trading and operational infrastructure systems
- Support traders and infrastructure users across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms
- Analyze and respond in real-time to infrastructure problems and incidents
- Manage the complete software lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, code review, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Identify and implement improvements to systems including infrastructure optimization, reliability enhancements, and operational efficiency gains
- Train junior developers in software development practices and methodologies
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field
- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- 1+ year of OCaml development experience including algebraic data types, pattern matching, functional programming principles, concurrent operations, and runtime optimization
- 1+ year of experience managing software release cycles and QA processes
- 1+ year of experience with Mercurial distributed version control system
- 1+ year of experience with asynchronous programming, typeful software design, and monadic programming
- 1+ year of experience in rapid diagnosis and resolution of production software issues in time-sensitive environments
- 1+ year of Linux platform programming experience including network programming and scripting tools
