We’re an early-stage, well-funded climate-tech startup working with industry leaders across the food and agriculture sector. We’re building a greenfield platform from the ground up, and we’re looking for exceptional engineers who care about ownership, speed, and quality.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is strong in backend systems, comfortable working with large and messy datasets, and able to ship reliable production software quickly. This is a hands-on IC role for someone who can take ambiguous business and data problems, design the right technical approach, and deliver high-quality systems end-to-end. You’ll work on backend services, APIs, data processing workflows, integrations, and cloud infrastructure that power Nibbana’s core platform.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services, APIs, and data-intensive systems
• Work with large operational and environmental datasets across ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers
• Own projects end-to-end - from architecture and implementation through deployment and monitoring
• Build reliable systems with strong attention to performance, observability, data quality, and maintainability
• Collaborate closely with product, data, and business teams to turn complex requirements into production-ready software
• Help shape engineering standards around testing, code quality, CI/CD, and operational excellence

What We’re Looking For:

• 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building production systems
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals: API design, system design, data modeling, async processing, reliability, and performance
• Strong production TypeScript experience, with real fluency in strict typing and type-safe design
• Experience building backend services with Node.js; Fastify experience is a strong plus
• Experience with Python for backend services, data workflows, or internal tooling; FastAPI experience is a plus
• Experience building data-intensive applications or systems that process large datasets
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar
• High ownership mindset, strong execution, and the ability to move quickly without compromising quality

Nice to Have:

• Experience with TimescaleDB, time-series data, or analytics-heavy systems
• Experience with event-driven systems such as Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar
• Experience with Parquet, data lakes, warehouses, or lakehouse architectures
• Early experience in climate, sustainability, agriculture, or supply-chain data
