Senior Software Engineer – Portfolio Implementation

This role is 4x a week onsite in their Greenwich, CT office.
The Team
You’ll join the Portfolio Implementation engineering team, designing and delivering mission-critical systems that translate research outputs into portfolio decisions and orders. You’ll work closely with researchers, portfolio managers, and engineering peers to drive large-scale technical initiatives.
Your Role
- Lead design and implementation of portfolio platforms that consume research outputs, perform constrained optimizations, and generate orders
- Own and evolve distributed, microservice-based systems built for reliability and scale
- Drive complex, cross-cutting initiatives spanning multiple services and teams
- Provide technical leadership to small engineering teams (2–5 engineers), including design reviews and execution oversight
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and hands‑on guidance
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep Java expertise
- Strong Python skills in production or research‑adjacent environments
- Proven experience designing and operating large‑scale distributed systems
- Familiarity with microservice technologies: Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL/MS SQL Server
- Strong engineering practices: code quality, automated testing, observability, and monitoring (e.g., New Relic)
- Ability to lead technical change, manage risk, and deliver in complex environments
