Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure & Developer ToolingAt Standard Bots, we're revolutionizing real-world automation by making robotic systems accessible to everyone. Our platform enables robots to tackle unprecedented challenges through an intuitive instruction interface, bringing the power of software automation to physical spaces.This role is hybrid with 3 days/week onsite in our NYC office, centrally located near Grand Central Station. The office is fully equipped with robots for demos and testing!

This specific role will also spend ~4 days/month in our Glen Cove robotics facility.We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure & Developer Tooling to lead and scale the core infrastructure and internal tooling that power our robot deployment and development lifecycle. This high-impact role blends distributed systems, DevOps, and developer experience to support mission-critical robotics operations. You'll serve as the technical lead for infrastructure efforts and will likely lead 1–2 other engineers, with the opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role as the team expands.You'll own key initiatives that ensure our robots are securely deployed, monitored, and updated at scale, while also enabling fast and reliable development across the engineering org.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundational systems of a fast-moving robotics company from the ground up.In this role, you will:Lead Infrastructure Development: Design and implement scalable infrastructure for robot deployment pipelinesBuild and maintain systems for automated robot software updates and provisioningDevelop robust CI/CD pipelines and environment management workflowsScale our multi-cloud infrastructure with an emphasis on: Robot fleet management and telemetrySecure robot-cloud communicationCloud resource cost efficiency and availabilityOwn Observability and Reliability by implementing and evolving observability systems to: Monitor robot fleet health, uptime, and usageTrack system performance and deployment success ratesDetect, alert, and diagnose production infrastructure issues automaticallyLead Developer Tooling Efforts: Build internal tools to improve developer workflows, testing, and release velocityDefine and promote engineering best practices through tooling, automation, and documentationSupport environment provisioning, local dev experiences, and standardized testing environmentsDrive Security and Compliance: Design and maintain secure infrastructure systems, including: Identity and access management (IAM), authentication, and secrets managementNetwork security for robot-cloud interactionsIncident response and security auditing toolsCollaborate Across the Organization: Work closely with software engineers, QA, Solutions, and Assembly Tech teams to understand technical pain points and infrastructure needsAdvocate for engineering efficiency and reliability through process and platform improvementsThis role is a strong fit if you:Have 7+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership in DevOps and infrastructure projectsHave a proven track record with CI/CD systems, distributed systems, and developer toolingAre experienced with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and KubernetesBring a strong understanding of security best practices in cloud-native environmentsHave experience implementing and scaling monitoring, logging, and alerting systemsAre passionate about building platforms that support world-class engineering teamsHave an interest in robotics and automation (robotics experience not required)Tech Stack:PythonNodeJS / TypeScriptReactDockerKubernetesTerraformPostgresCloudflareCompensation and Benefits: The base salary range for this role is $170,000 to $210,000, depending on experience. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options.
